I have a laptop with an integrated SD card reader. It seems like most new laptops have some kind of memory card reader. It would be nice getting it to work, since both my digital camera and my PDA use SD memory card. I was wondering if anybody here has had any luck getting these things to work on Linux. I was looking around and found nothing. Mine is a Texas Instruments PCI7420. Thanks.

These two websites will help you make the SD card reader work:

http://members.inode.at/g.schild/DIV/Winbond-howto.html
http://projects.drzeus.cx/wbsd/

It requires patching the kernel and then recompiling it.

Admittedly, I haven't suceeded in having my SD reader work but I'm a newbie and don't have enough 'geek credentials' yet.

Let me know if you are able to make it work.

Mmm, I have the Acer Ferrari 3200Lmi
The integrated SD card reader worked instantly, even at setup time. I used it to write the Yast package list to an SD Card as I don't have a floppy drive.
It all depends on the hardware.
