Suse 10.3+skype 2.0.0.68-no Ringtones Heard

Suse 10.3, internal sound card (P5GD1-VW, driver=snd_hda_intel) on Asus MoBo

After finally getting my HDA stuff going, everything I've tried so far has worked except:
I can't get any ringtones from skype. I can call out, receive calls, with good full duplex audio, so the hard stuff works. I can't here any audio events generated by skype at all. My sense of it is, is that it's a driver problem.
