i'm not sure about the cd, but it's a lot tricker getting many things working since it doesn't come with as much on it obviously. it would not require you to get another browser... download it with a bit torrent client like azureus. if you can install by dvd it would make your life much much easier. sorry if this doesn't help at all. i have only managed to get peopl's wireless working from dvd install, i don't know what the cd comes with in terms of software etc. is your device a pci card or usb adapter?

for your wireless, post the output of:

/sbin/lspci -v

then we can take it from there, but, as thestig said, if you used the cd,you will not have as much software & installing hardware drivers will be problematic as you are limited by the software on the cd,unless you have a wired connection as well

Does this help? I had a really long cat 5 cable my nephew gave me and ran it thru 5 rooms of the house and I am able to get it on the internet and have been updating like crazy. Thankfully no one is home to trip over it, well besides me. The wireless pci card is showing up now under network devices. I disconnected and tried the wireless and still no luck. The cdrom doesn't have an icon like had before, but I have been able to access it to install additional non-open source software that I downloaded and burnt to a second cd.

o.k. this is your wireless device:

Code:
02:0c.0 Network controller: ADMtek ADM8211 802.11b Wireless Interface (rev 11)
Subsystem: Abocom Systems Inc Unknown device ab60
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 20
I/O ports at d400 [size=256]
Memory at eb800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1K]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at efe00000 [disabled] [size=128K]
unfortunately it's an old 802.11b device, it *may* work out of the box. if so, you need to configure it via YaST - network cards - network devices. click on the device & then click configure. when setting up :

1 ) make sure the device is set to activate on boot
2 ) make sure the firewall is set to external on the device
3 ) make sure any encryption matches EXACTLY what is on the wireless router.

any problems,just post

Server not found is all I am getting. Under 'allowed services' in the 'firewall' setttings, is there suppose to be something there?
