MY TV card Pinnacle PCTV pro with SUSE 9.3 was perfectly working (autodetected) both as TV than FM radio , now with SUSE 10.1 has many problems:

1) using driver v4l2 TV has no sound
2) using driver v4l TV works but mencoder complains about a discrepancy due to demuxer v4l used with a v4l2 peripheral
3) radio is not working at all.

This is the log:

Hi,

I struggle with the same issue.

My card was working with SuSE 9.2 TV and Radio. (Pinnacle PCTV Pro PAL-BG/ I/DK/SECAM)
Now with SuSE 10.1 the TV works but the Radio is not working.

Did you found a solution for the radio?

Thats bad...

If I find the solution I post it here, but I have to say I am close to giving up.
My 9.2 image whispers: restore me, restore me...

There has been some "buzz" about the new Novell/SuSE policy (implemented as of SuSE-10.1), about not including proprietary drivers.

If your older SuSE had a proprietary driver, could it be the open source driver in 10.1 is not as good as the old proprietary drivers in your older SuSE ? Any chance of finding the driver you used previously, and install it on 10.1 ?

I like to try the 'old' bttv 0.9.15 drivers to test them on 10.1.
Restore to 9.2 is no issue but I need some directions how to make this work.

bttv is included in the kernel...

In SUSE 9.3 the installation was completely handled by Yast. I don't know if it used something proprietary and where it was stored.

I did try to use the bt878 modules from suse92 without succes. These should be compiled for the suse10.1 kernel, but I do not know how.

After this attempt I updated to 2.6.16.21-0.13-smp kernel.

The result is still the same, except there is now a new line in the boot.msg
Code:
bt878: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag.
