I installed the newest beta drivers, and now my sound card works under linux, but now i have a new problem, everytime i boot up linux, it always freezes at: starting firewall intilzation (phase 1 of 2), How do i get around this? and why would the instaliton of my sound card affect this? Thank you.

hey all,

day 1 of using opensuse for the first time

I just finished installing everything and everything "seems" to be working OK except for my sound. I have a Asus p4p800 Deluxe MOBO and it "seems" like it's detected however I can't get no sound to work. Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Find your sound card from the alsa web site and try to compile your own? There should be instructions. Or check to see if your card has any known problems.

I know the card is supported since I was just running Fedora Core 3/4 and Ubuntu and both were working properly. Windows (of course) works fine too. I even tried Suse 10.0RC1 and it was working off the default setup too. I just don't understand why it's not working in 9.3. The drive is intel8x0 and is supported by alsa according to http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-p...module=intel8x0

Anybody else have any ideas?

Thanks
