Typically libc.so.6 it is located in /lib

Maybe its possible (indeed likely) that your SLES is simply too old ???? What version of glibc does your SLES 8.0 have?

If on my openSUSE-10.3 PC, I type

Im so close to salvaging these 2 linux boxes so Id like to fix this with some tape and glue this time ... Do you know where I can get the necessary rpm to put my libc up to speed?

lnx-tntella-01:/lib # rpm -qf /lib/libc.so.6
glibc-2.2.5-164
lnx-tntella-01:/lib #

I don't believe replacing glibc is a trivial matter. I think such an approach is fraught with complications and dangers.

If this is old hardware, forcing you to use an old SUSE version, them IMHO its far far better to purchase new hardware, and a new openSUSE version.

I can't help you in replacing glibc.

Perfect.

Justifies moving forward faster to get rid of this old hardware. Its almost the foot in the rear the management needs.

thanks
