i have a problem regarding permissions. if i choose to open yast, it asks for the root password. so i enter it. the 'remember password' box is always ticked by default, if i untick this then click enter, yast opens up. if i close yast, then go to reenter it, yast opens without asking for a password. i exit kde by logging out, log in again and choose to open yast, it asks for a password, but i click enter without even entering a password and yast opens up as if i were root.

i changed roots password, chose tro open yast, entered the new password, ensuring the 'remember password' box was not checked, closed yast, and the exact same problem. this is not just yast, it's other things like wifi-radar as well. what the hell is going on? and how can i get the 'remember password' box to stay unticked by default?

thanks for any help.

edit: i noted after a reboot it asks me for password again. is this usual behavior (i.e. once entered root's password once, you don't have to do so again for the session), is this a security risk? hmmm.

the password is remembered for about 10 mins,IIRC, so it's not really a risk. try opening YaST or anything else that needs root permissions, after 10-15 mins & see what happens
