my young niece and nephew has an older computer an hp pavillion 6535... right now, windows 2000 is on it and each time it starts, it freezes and you cant do anything on it, useless!! With McAfee running and all those useless windows services running in the background, it freezes up ...
its an Intel Celeron 466 Megahertz (MHz) processor, Chipset Intel 810, 128 MB (2 x 64 MB DIMM), Speed- 100 MHz synchronous, Video Graphics - PCI Local Bus, Controller Intel 810 , Compatibility 3-D Stereo, PCI, 16-bit Sound, Controller Crystal audio.

i was wondering if i put opensuse 10.3 onto it, will it run better, at least useable .. well, will it freeze up???

thanks

if it's only 128mb ram then it probably wouldn't run too well, as 256 is minimum, with 512 recommended

http://www.novell.com/products/opensuse/sysreqs.html

you could try another linux distro such as **** small linux, according to this

http://www.****smalllinux.org/

it will run smoothly on 128mb of ram easily. it says it can run purely with the ram on 128! lol, that's insane.

not sure how easy or how hard it is to use, but suse won't run well on those specs i believe.
