While trying to get the browser to open into my home page I fiddled with a command line and buggered it up - it will no longer open. I right clicked on the konqueror icon and selected properties, application tab and 'command' then changed the line to http://bbc.co.uk - worth trying I thought
:-( This is the error message KDEInit could not launch 'http://bbc.co.uk' could not find 'http:/bbc.co.uk'executable can someone please give me the correct command to launch it again and maybe tell me how to set this site as my home page somedays I learn a lot some days a little - but usually I just balls things up...... |

Try changing it to:
'kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing' in Menu Editor. Sorry, missed the 'homepage' bit. Once you got it running again, go to site you want to be your home page and open 'Settings' and select 'Save View Profile "webbrowsing"', and save it as default profile for web browsing, now every time you start Konqueror, it opens with your homepage. |

thanks - I'm half way there. By using the SuSe 'start (sic)' button then 'web browsing' i got onto the internet and was able to sort out my home page following your instructions. (tho' why Konqueror doesn't have a simple 'make this site your home page' button..........)
but the main Konqueror icon on the task bar is still broken and I couldn't work out from what you said how to fix it. I need to enter the correct string into the Konqueror command line or give me a total twits guide to how to do it. assume ignorance and I won't disappoint...... |

Right click 'SuSe' (or K icon that opens your programs menu) and select 'Menu Editor', there you can see all submenus and applications within.
Now browse into the menu where your Konqueror launch is (by default 'Internet' - 'Web Browser' I think). Once you find it, click its entry and you see details of the commands on the right. On 3rd box from top, paste the string (without quotes) and save the menu. Remove the shortcut tab from taskbar by right-clicking it and select 'Remove... button'. Right click taskbar again and select 'Add Application Button' and select Konqueror button from the menu. Now you have updated properties in it and it should work ok. Other (more straightforward) option is for you just open the taskbar button's properties and paste the string to replace what you have there now (in the 'commands' box and without the quotes). |
