Thumbs down

Hello All
I have just started with Suse. I have a T7700, 2GB DDR2, Intel GMA950 onboard laptop.
Im using Suse 10.3 + KDE 3.5.7
I followed these:
http://en.opensuse.org/Compiz-Fusion#openSUSE_10.3 (Downloaded files with one click install)
http://en.opensuse.org/AIGLX (Modified my xorg.conf)

From KDE config -> Session mgmt, I changed the WM to compiz.
On restart, I still had the KWin running but the Windows had thick shadows. So I just opened "Compiz fusion icon" and changed WM to Compiz and Window decorator to "Emerald". This seemed to work fine except that my Menus, tooltips and even the panel has a thick white border, I can select menu items but when I point at them, they are not highlighted by the blue bar anymore, and when I type anything in the K-Menu search box, nothing comes there (it remains black), nor does it search anything. Plus when I open terminal, it is completely blank.

The desktop eddects: fade etc are working with the above mentioned problems. Compiz runs seamlessly on Hardy (which I dual boot Suse with). What could I have done wrong?
