Hi all,
I am trying to install Java and netbeans, I have downloaded the file from Sun with extention .sh. I then logged in as su on the console and typed ./jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh and this is the message I got:

guest:/home/lmoreira/Desktop # ./jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh
bash: ./jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh: Permission denied
guest:/home/lmoreira/Desktop #

As I am logged in as su I do not understand this message.
Any help welcomed,

best regards
Luis

check the file is executable & also, try putting sh in front of the command,e.g.

sh jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh

please use below command
#sudo jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh

or you can login in by root account and then

chmod 777 jdk-6u6-nb-6_1-linux.sh
