I'm a newbie to linux after being heavily involved with windows. Anyway does anybody know why firefox shuts down immediatley after opening. I've just installed 10.3 and everything was working fine, until one day I tried to open the application and now it won't remain open.
Anybody else have the same problem. blink.gif |

Try reinstalling through yast or running from a console/terminal see if it gives you any errors.

Been a while since I've done it but yes some extensions do cause unusual behavior.
Think you got to Firefox -> Tools -> Add ons -> Highlight extensions Should be able to remove it, as for working around it maybe try the extension author see what they say after that I guess it would be a bug report for Firefox. Though does look like a java problem to my limited knowledge. |

I believe that you can remove the extension in File manager Show hidden files /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/(default file type number)/extensions/(file random number)/ remove the .jar files.
It might at least get you up on Firefox. Barring that you would need to remove the whole default folder and recreate by running firefox from command line. You would lose any bookmarks and preferences that way so I hope you have a list of them saved. BTW: rename or at least save in wastebasket any files you delete so that you can restore if necessary. |
