I am trying to get konqueror (my favourite browser) to run up VLC in order to view mms streams. VLC can seek in mss streams, but mplayer can't. I am viewing the videos on this page: http://videos.tf1.fr/. No matter what I do in konq's file association settings, Konqueror always runs up KMplayer. How can I force konq to call VLC when I click on one of those videos? There is a workaround: copy the playlist URL and then vlc plus mms:// but that's a bit tedious.

As far as I can determine it doesn't work with Konqueror. A scan for a new plugin won't find it. Also the vlc plugin doesn't seem to have any in-browser controls judging by this post: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=40919 |

I'm all out of suggestions for Konqueror. I have to admit I'm partial to it but do find I keep FF around for some sites.
There is a media plugin for FF that could achieve this iirc it will open with what you tell it to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446 not really what you wanted. |
