openSUSE Updater provides notification of security updates as normal, however after clicking OK to the updates the updater fails to open YaST on line update and continues to indicate updates are available. Updates then have to be installed manually with YaST. Minor problem but a fix would be nice.

I had that earlier. It seems to happen when there is no 'security' level update amongst them, but only 'recommended' ones.

This is the case at the moment with me also (three of them). I will wait until a 'security' one wil join them or until I have enough of it and use YaST like you (whichever comes first ).

Anyone to make a bug report to openSUSE?

There have been a couple of similar bugs reported relating to Amarok updates,

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=344025
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=344025

They may be related to a more general problem.

Using zypper directly at the command line as an alternative to YaST is also relatively straight forward

I told you above why. That is because some days back there was a 'security' update. It only happens when there are 'recommended' ones only.

Today morning there was a security update for libvorbis. But it did not work for me. I got the same problem you were describing.

One common thing I saw in all failed updates was that each update related to more than one package being actually updated. For example, today's was for libvorbis and libvorbis-devel. When there was an update for java, that only one update was for in fact 4 or 5 packages (all java packages). The same thing for the problem reported in the OP (on May 25th).

The workaroud I used in all cases was resorting to smart.

Can someone confirm? If so, would it be a good idea to report it in bugzilla?

I haven't been able to perform any security update nor any upgrade at all for quite some time now.
