Hi all, I normally use KDE3, but for the last month or so i also installed KDE4, so that i could have a look and see how it was getting on. After updateing my system today, I logged out of KDE4 to go back to KDE3, but now there is no options for me to change to KDE3. I checked Yast to make sure that it was still installed, and everything seemed to be ok, within Yast. I then decided to install Gnome, just to see if I could boot into that, seemed to install ok, but again I can't change to that either. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advance

You don not tell us where you expected to change back to KDE. So, I may tell you something you already tried:

At the login-screen you will find a menu in the lower left corner: Session Type. It should contain all possibilities available on your system. The last one used is the default.

Hi, sorry should have mentioned, when I use the menu in session type it has default, KDE4, FVWM and a few others, can't remember them now, but default boots KDE4. I've since uninstalled KDE4, and now the default is FVWM, and still no KDE3 or Gnome.

there should be an option for 'kde' not 'kde3'. try that. if not, add the kde repo's and reinstall it.

Hi, there were no options for KDE, but anyway i've had to do an update using the installation DVD as i couldn't get yast to reinstall KDE3, but at least everything seems to be ok again.

Thanks

Funny you should mention that, as KDE3 base was missing in yast, but when i reinstalled it, it didn't seem to make any difference, I still couldn't log into KDE. I still have no idea how it managed to uninstall in the first place though, as I didn't uninstall anything, I just did an update then logged out of KDE4 to go back to 3, but everything is now back to normal.
