I hope this is the right place for this question. I will be moving soon to the Caribbean to start up/take over a business. I have decided to set up my office and home network with Suse 10.3.
What I know I will need is a PIM or CRM software package. Nothing hugely expensive ( a couple of hundred dollars) since I, for the first couple of months, will be the only one using it. I want the SW to be able to be linked to an email client, preferably Thunderbird, but I will go for something else if necessary; it should keep a copy of all emails sent and received from each specific client/customer, in that customers file. It should be able to keep a break down of everything that each customer buys, in that customers file too. It should do all the usual names dates address etc. If possible it should have a data base so I can enter my products and be able to get a break down of who bought what and when as well as whether they got a special deal or a discount. This probably is not available and I will probably have to get a second program to handle this. If possible the two packets should be able to work together. I know this is a bit much to ask but I thought that someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks. |

For the PIM, KOrganizer does good job for me. I do not use CRM software (although I made one, extremely huge and expensive when I was working for ApData), but I have heard a good words about SugarCRM. Can't tell you much about it, I believe I played with it for some 30 mins a year ago. I know it is open-source, so I advise you to check it.
That is my two cents. Sorry for not being more helpful. |

I don't think there's much in the way of a Pim for Linux but you might be able to use your accounting system for what you describe (something like gnucash), you could save resources and try a hosted crm (various firms sell a monthly host based sugarcrm or similar) of try a web based product like Zoho (which is free for up to 3 users).
