have opensuse 10.3
i updated my firefox to a beta version but i don't know what i did wrong now there are two firefoxs in my package selector, one in installed software mozillafirefox (2.9.95) and another in avaiable software firefox (2.9.95) firefox works fine but shows up as 3.0b5 though, i thought it would be 2.9.95 how can i remove the one from avaiable software and KEEP the one in installed software?? also how can i remove software from the avaiable software section if i dont want it on my system or in available software? say for example the program pidgin since ill never use it? i removed pidgiin from installed software section to available software but would like it out of the list in available software like firefox?? how to remove? thanks |

Bit confused so I'll just tackle this bit
or in available software You can't by removing repo's the software won't be available, it's not locally stored but stored on a repo. |

Not sure but think what your looking as is DE specific on KDE it looks very different and I use the versions tab to see what ones are available.
That looks like a search as for the GTK layout can't comment but in my mind looks fine. You search for FF you find a version installed and an available version. But as said far from knowing using KDE I search and have a versions tab, if it's installed the radio button is highlighted. |

If you have a Repo with packages available they are always available if the repo is turned On and is has refresh enabled. That is what happens when you open Software Management it refreshes the list of available packages from each Repo listed. It does not matter if you already have it installed locally. Nothing is installed on your computer but the List of what's on the Repo.

Hehe some of us that would be an understatement
I'll leave that flame war alone I prefer KDE, but many users are happy with gnome. You can install both to try out, just choose the correct session depending on which DE you want. Yast pattern selection will help with installing the other DE. |

no need to re-partition.Go to YaST - software management. click the top-left drop-down box & select patterns, then select Kde.then click apply.once installed, log out. then, at the log-in screen, down the bottom-left,click on session & select Kde.Then just log-in as normal & have fun
