Hello,

I am a newbie to Linux. I had installed openSuse 10.2 some time ago, but never got around to getting it update automatically using YaST. All it did was add the dvd as a source from which I had installed it the first time.

To give some idea, I am behind a proxy server at my workplace. Any idea if this might be the problem, though I doubt because I think many people in my organisation will be using it. I have tried all the suggestions that have been posted previously on these forums/websites, including trying to add it with konqurer/adding a ftp/http source, adding a url, adding through zypp etc.

But all I get is this error message every time saying that the source type of the repository could not be identified. Do you want to try again?

Thank you for all the help in advance and let me know if I need to give any other information.

cheers
jala

The proxy server may be the problem, but I'm not sure what to do about it. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable types will be able to help you.

You need to set up system proxy, so YaST can pass it. Search in YaST and find Proxy setting. Fill information. It should work.
