I think you need to be more specific. There are 64 and 32 bit Intel dual core processors. The (core duo) one in my laptop is 32bit

cat /proc/cpuinfo and post the output if not clear mine does say it is 64 there but is AMD.

The Intel Core 2 Duo is definitely capable of doing 64-bit, it uses EM64T
