I have installed ANSYS 11 (M64T) version in OpenSUSE10.3, but I haven't been able to run an analysis yet. Although the Product Launcher works, when I try to start ANSYS Classic, it only opens a white window that says:
ERROR MESSAGE: /usr/ansys_inc/v110/ansys/bin/linem64t/ansys.e110: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 When I launch Workbench, I get only a white window, but no error. I have libXm.so.3. I have followed the ANSYS linux install guide, although I am using OpenSUSE and an Intel Core2 Quad (instead of the Xeon), an ANSYS helpdesk guy says it should work (although they don't offer linux install support). Can anyone explain how to set the ELFCLASS? Thank you. PS this version of ANSYS Classic works with 64-bit, but their help docs say Workbench uses 32-bit still. |

You should be able to get the Ansys solver running on Suse 10.3. On my machine (Intel dual core) it runs nicely. Possibly the libXm.so.3 problem can be solved by installing the Motif window manager libraries, e.g. through Yast on Linux 10.3. Your error means it finds the wrong libXm.so.3 file. It may be needed to create a link from libXm.so.4 to libXm.so.3 (in /usr/lib64/)
So far I have not been able to get Workbench running on OpenSuse 10.x. Even installing the 32 bit runtime environment doesn't help. Succes! Quote:

Thanks for the morale-boost. I did solve the problem by updating with the new openmotif 64-bit library patch, so that error disappeared and ANSYS Classic finally launched! But immediately crashed due to a system failure. And Workbench still only produces a blank white window. We're waiting for a response on our SUSE suppot contract.
"An unexpected error ( Segmentation Violation ) has occurred ... ANSYS internal data has been corrupted. ANSYS is unable to recover and will terminate." - no idea. fyi - I talked to an ANSYS rep from cadfem at the Hannover Fair last month and he didn't recommend using the gui in linux, but that the batch mode works better than Windows. Not sure what you're supposed to do with that info... maybe try calculix? (free and really supportive yahoo group - even wrote a new colour map for me :-) Good luck with yours - if I get Workbench running, I'll post the solution. Quote:
