Unhappy

I am running OpenSuse 10.3 64bit version.

My aim is to have the box as an iSCSI target to provide shared devices for clustering.

I have created a partition called shared based on LVM.

Downloaded iscsi modules from opensuse for 10.3 via yast

rpm -qa |grep iscsi

yast2-iscsi-server-2.14.3-88
iscsitarget-0.4.13-78
yast2-iscsi-client-2.15.2-39
open-iscsi-2.0.866-15

Configured the target (leaving the default target name) and added the path to /dev/mpper/system-shared.

I noticed that the rciscsitarget had status unused.

rciscsitarget start - failed

Starting iSCSI taregt service: FATAL: Module iscsi_trgt not found.
netlink fd
: Connection refused

As I do not have years of experience in Linux environment, I find it challenging to interpret such messages. Could anyone please give me some hints on what I should look for?

thanks

If my memory serves, iSCSI target support was removed in 10.2 and only the user space tools remain. If you compile and install the kernel module, then you are good to go.

Thanks, I have already looked at that site before I posted this thread. I am fairly new when it comes to compiling modules. I could only find Fedora and Red Hat how to installations on that site. Is there anyone who has documented the installation of this iscsi target package on SuSE 10.3 or earlier version?

thanks
