Just installed the 64bit Suse 10.3. Using the Kensington optical trackball (has a scroll ring), the scroll bar in the active window moves up and down like crazy when all I am trying to do is move the cursor. Also, in drop down menus, when I try to highlight them, they disappear as if I had moved off of them, when I actually have moved the cursor on them. It is actually impossible to work in the desktop environment, due to this problem.

Is there a configuration fix for this? Or is this a defective optical trackball?

Are we talking about a mouse here? The place to start is to test other mice.

sounds like a hardware problem, i used to have a bad mouse and it would scroll up and down like crazy when i try to read a document, without me doing anything.
