I've installed opensuse 10.2 64bit in:
mobo infinity
amd64 3200+ am2 socket
ram 2x512MB 667 dual channel
nvidia 7300 gs 256MB
sata seagate 500GB in channel 1 master
ide 0 master pioneer dvd-rom
ide 0 slave tdk cd-rw
ide 1 master asus dvd-rw
ide 1 slave seagate 250GB
winxp sp2 installed in sata
opensuse 10.2 64bit installed in ide
my problems are:
1. grub either lilo couldn't find mbr partion, so I have to insert opensuse intallation dvd to load grub or lilo;
2. monitor goes standbye if i start using default os 10.2;
3. my os 10.2 couldn't start the startx command, but i can start it in shell using start failsafe mode;

Could anyone tell me, what's going on? what's wrong? I've been using 10.1 x_86 without any problems.

Thanks.

Herman,

Latest opensuse10.3 is released, You can download it and try installing it, it provide generic nvidia chipset support on installation and after installation you can update the driver using yast from nvidia to fully utilize the 3d effects
