Problem:
The security update of 2007-10-12 for SuSE 10.0 x86-64 has cause the second screen of a workstation to become garbled. This is presumably due to the update of Xorg from 6.8.2-100 to 6.8.2-100.13. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone know how to revert the rpm to the earlier 6.8.2-100 packages? The 6.8.2-100 packages appear not to be available from Novell. I would suggest anyone with a similar system (see below) does not carry out the latest security update to the xorg packages (though it could also be related to the kernal update carried out at the same time). Op Sys: Open SuSE 10.0. Screens: 2 x NEC MultiSync LCD 2070NX Motherboard: SuperMicro H8DCE, Dual AMD Opteron, nVidia nForce Pro 2200, 2050 Chipset. CPUs: 2 x AMD Opternon 265 Dual Core 1.8GHz 64 bit. RAM: 4 x PC3200 DDR 1024 MB. HDisk: 2 x Western Digital SE WD 2500JS 250GB. |

or try re-installing the graphics driver. quite often if you do a kernel update or xorg update,, you need to re-install your graphics driver

Thank you Andrew Sorensen and Andy for your sensible suggestions. I eventually downloaded OpenSuSE 10.3. The two screens once again operate correctly. I do hope that future updates from Novell will not again break the workstations |
