Running a dual system with XP and Suse 10.2 32 bit works fine.
Can any tell what the consequences are making a clean reinstall from CDs with 64 bit version ? I'm still in the learning phase and don't bother to loose 32 bit progs and data as long as I can retain to multi-boot feature. |

some additional hassle with multimedia libraries and some plugins like java for mozilla, you should keep an old, 32 bit version of java for the plugin itself, while you can use the new, 64 bit version for other purposes.
I used 64 bit version with 10.0 and found that yeah you need to spend some more time because of library issues but nothing is unsolvable. But I'm sure many further advices from people running x64 on 10.2 will come soon, my experience with 64 bit is a bit obsolete

To give some support to Gonzo :-) 64bit really makes a difference over 32bit only if you have more than 4GByte main memory and are running applications that really need that amount of memory, like databases. Since this is seldom the case for desktop systems, you can just keep a running 32bit system. OTH I have a running 64bit system, since it was installed as the default, and with the 32bit compatibility libraries installed, I don't have any problems with browser plugins, or multimedia codecs or whatever.
