This week I was asked to save images from a poor CDROM (RW).
Non of my drives could read it's content. So I asked for the memory card from the camera.

The card was wiped clean and 19 new photos were taken. I remembered something was available for Linux.
It is "recoverjpeg". Strange but you can't find it in guru or packman anymore. You have to save it from here and compile it.

The tool works perfect. (I never tried it before) The program recovered over 250 photo's from the (499.5M) card!
No hassel, just open a directory where you like to put the pictures and give the command:
recoverjpeg /dev/sdc1

(in my case /dev/sdc1 hold the memory card)

It took a few minutes to recover all available photo's. During recovery there is no progress indication.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future. (I read it can also recover pictures from hard drive)

(I doubt 'off topic' is the best place for this thread, but I wanted to share this info...)

Sorry, but in order to scan the content of a drive it has to be mounted. If you can mount it and do not see the lost pictures, than you can try recoverjpeg.

EDIT; 'Normal' available pictures on disk or card are not copied during recovery with recoverjpeg

Enjoy

I take this back... you do not have to mount the card or drive to use recoverjpeg
