I installed Open SuSE 10.3 64 bit today, and while was on my way to configuring flash player and adobe acrobat and video players thanks to this article, I was stumped when I tried to install Frostwire.
A visit to the frostwire website gives the 32 bit rpm, which obviously does not gel with the 64 bit JRE I have on my system. I could not find a 34 bit rpm for open suse, but i did find a 64 bit rpm for deb distros here.

So I
1. Downloaded frostwire_4.13.1-7_amd64.deb
2. Installed Alien through YaST
3. Browsed to the folder where the deb file was located in Konsole and gave the following command
Code:
alien -r frostwire_4.13.1-7_amd64.deb
4. This generated frostwire-4.13.1-8.x86_64.rpm for me in the same folder
5. Installed the new rpm with the following command
Code:
rpm -i --nodeps frostwire-4.13.1-8.x86_64.rpm
6. Ctrl+D to close root priveliges, and type frostwire at the user prompt, or close this konsole window and launch it from
KMenu->Applications->New Applications

Works like a charm

I have uploaded frostwire-4.13.1-8.x86_64.rpm here in case you do not want to go through the above procedure. Just remember that your 64 bit Java should be installed. For details on that see this article

G0NZ0, I am using openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 right now, and all I did was download the rpm from Frostwire's site and rpm -ivh frostwire.rpm, no problems at all, but I also am running a 32 bit Firefox with 32 bit Java, so that may be why I haven't experienced any problems. They have an RPM for frostwire in their download section.

Then my understanding is that the steps in #1 could be replaced by an installation of Java 32 bit. The latter , on the other hand, is gonna be needed for other applications as well so sooner or later it should be done.
Well nucleuskore those steps may be useful anyway to learn something new

Yes, I have already mentioned that in my post, it installed but did not work. Kept telling me that maybe the version of Java I was using was wrong.

ok we probably are not understanding each other, i might have worded badly or you missed some words. You said "does not gel with the 64 bit JRE I have on my system." This means you do have java 64 bit but NOT java 32. The latter is what you need.
My last post says to install JAVA 32 bit, not frostwire 32 bit. I read that you did install frostwire 32 bit, and its not what im suggesting to do in fact, or better its not the only thing you need to do.
I hope now its more clear.

if problems persist even after installing java 32, get back... lets hope not, lets cross our fingers.

I tried 64 bit OS with suse 10.0 and yeah i recall there was some little hassle with libraries, headers not found. Now in 10.3 things are surely better but yet sometimes a few things require more work, java-dependent applications are among those
