Thumbs down

I've been working on Ati Radeon x1300 & beryl... And Now, with some searchings (about a year) I've donw it. Hope works for everyone...

Firstly, Make sure that installed smart version is the latest one. And type "smart update". After that, start to our journey

1. Now... First installing ATI Driver. Best problematic

1.a. Go and download latest ATI driver that is suitable for your card & Linux ver. (x86 or x86_64).
From here:
(And don't forget, always download ATI Driver Installer (that Automated installer and Display Drivers one)

1.b. Open a root shell (or after open a shell type su and type root password). And install them with smart (at root permission, with typing "smart install (package_name)") and if they ever installed, try to upgrade them (with type "smart upgrade (package_name))

Quote:
# XFree86-Mesa-libGL
# libstdc++
# libgcc
# XFree86-libs
# fontconfig
# expat
# freetype
# zlib
# gcc
# kernel-source
[/b]
1.c. Type cd /where_the_downloaded_driver_is to reach where you download driver. Than type: sh ./ati-driver-installer-8.36.5-x86.x86_64.run than install it automatically (when you open, you'll see what is automatic ).

1.d. THIS IS IMPORTANT ONE: Open this with a text editor: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf", and at "Device" section (if two, add to first one) add these; "Option" "AGPMask" "0x00000006" (there are 7 zeros).
[/b]
Now, restart your computer. But before that, bookmark this page 'Cause there's nothing we have done yet, except installing ATI driver

2.After KDE openings, download this:
(Thnx to geoffro). Than, install it (It's a RPM). Than Open it.

There's 4 tabs at top. Click 2. one (Beryl). Than click "smart". Smart button will down (and ask for root pass). After it comes available, it's installed, somehow. Than close program.

(Reference to, http://en.opensuse.org/Beryl)

Now, open an root shell (or at shell type su and root pass when asked). Than firstly type this:
Than when asked type "y". After that, with smart install package_name command, install and/or upgrade these ones.

* xgl
* beryl-core-snapshot
* beryl-plugins-snapshot
* emerald-snapshot : window decorator
* emerald-themes-snapshot
* aquamarine-snapshot
* beryl-settings-snapshot
* beryl-manager-snapshot
* compiz
[/b]
don't forget, if package is installed, try upgrade it..

Than, type "gnome-xgl-switch --enable-xgl" and type "rcxdm restart" (This will restart KDE)

3. THIS ONE THE KEY (important one):

3.a. Now, open kate (or any text editor). Than type them:

/usr/bin/compiz gconf & /usr/bin/gnome-window-decorator &

And save it as "compiz.sh" and move to "/usr/local/bin" (Don't forget to make it executable)

3.b. Open kate again, than type:

export KDEWM=/usr/local/bin/compiz.sh

And save it as "kdewm.sh" and move it to "/opt/kde3/env" (Don't forget to make it executable)

And than, restart our computer again, and last time...

And there is... Here is the Berly, on Suse 10.2 @ Ati x1300

Hope works for everyone...
