Sharepoint uses NTLM authentication which results in large numbers of authentication dialogs in vanilla firefox.

To make sharepoint sites useable:

1. Type about:config in the firefox address bar.
2. Find the network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris parameter, and set the value to the domain or hostname of the site(s) you want to access. Use commas to separate

e.g. bob.morris.com, acme.com

On Suse I have to authenticate once, then sharepoint works well from there on.

Funny, I'm using 64 bit 9.2 with Firefox 1.0.4 and I haven't had any of those problems with SharePoint, which I despise. What junk. Some of the preference stuff wont work though. Trash.

Perhaps it depends on whether you are accessing an authentication protected part of a sharepoint site...

Anyway, I could get nowhere with sharepoint until I made the change I described above.

Sharepoint has it's uses. We've created a usable "issue tracking" site using its features. I haven't discovered how to create relationships between views, possibly because you can't do this in sharepoint

Oracle HTMLDB is much more powerful, but with that power comes a steeper learning curve.

I was fond of IBM WebSphere back in my corporate internet portal days. At least it didn't require the use of IE to view!
