thanks Jonathan R for the comment. For some reason it's not letting me edit my post any more.... any reason as to why, perhaps the edit link goes after a certain amount of time? i am currently a bit busy right now to edit the wiki but when i get time either tonight or tomorrow i will do so the the best of my understanding to what broch has just said, then if broch would be so kind enough to check that would be great. and broch, to me you are a guru thanks for the suggestions and sorry for posting information which was not correct, but i hope you can understand that, as i didnt know what these services were i searched for them and assumed they were correct. obviously this was not the case and i am sorry. as i said when i get a little more time to go through what i can from the suggestions you made i will ammend the wiki to the best of my ability.

thanks again and speak soon no doubt,

cheers mate,

Ross.

ps, sorry geoff for not adding source, for some reason i forgot to do this  unlike me not to name a source what with all the research i did for college etc

From what I was told, this was setup as a default board policy some time back (long before I joined). The reason was there was a significant technical contributor, who got frustrated and left the board one day. And when he did so, he deleted all of his posts, which mean a significant technical loss to the board.

So the ability to edit after a while has been prevented.

If one must do an edit, or a deletion later, one can always PM a moderator or admin and ask them to do the edit.

thankss oldcpu for the info. Broch, i have edited the wiki http://wiki.suselinuxsupport.de/wikka.php?...unlevelservices to the best of my ability, i hope it's ok. if you would so kind to check that would be fantastic. my apologies if there are many more inaccuracies. but as i said i don't understand all of this like you, i merely confided in google thanks again for the corrections, they really are much appreciated. also, Jonathan at the end of the wiki i typed in the formatting for the link and it didn't come up  i did the two brackets [[ followed by the link (without space between link and first 2 brackets, then a space followed by article on run services, then the two brackets ]] but i saved it and it didn't come up with the link, so have left it with the link there. my apologies again. if there are any more things you think i can help with either write here or send me a PM. cheers guys.

some of the services listed are not available for suse. I would delete these completely
drakxtools_http
harddrake
heartbeat

otherwise someone would ask where are Fedora or Slackware or Ubuntu specific tools.

If you are busy, leave wiki as it is. Later fix some mistakes that are still present.

Good job

OK, let's look at what you typed at the bottom:

Quote:
This has been edited since the article where this information was found
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com...3-6018195.html
was wrong in a few places, it has been edited to the best of my ability thanks to the user Broch. Many thanks to the article and Broch for helping me in making this Wiki.[/b]
Now, for links to work in the wiki, it must be:
Code:
This has been edited since the article where this information was found
[[articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-3513-6018195.html]]
was wrong in a few places, it has been edited to the best of my ability thanks to the user Broch. Many thanks to the article and Broch for helping me in making this Wiki.
Do you see the difference?

Or you could make it like this:
Code:
This has been edited since the article where this information was
[[articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-3513-6018195.html found]]
was wrong in a few places, it has been edited to the best of my ability thanks to the user Broch. Many thanks to the article and Broch for helping me in making this Wiki.
Which should give you the result of:
This has been edited since the article where this information was found
