I installed 10.2/64 for the first time about 12 months ago, but left and went back to my favourite O/S Beos/Zeta. I returned a couple of weeks ago,( updated to AMD x2, Zeta doesn't like) and after becoming frustrated by my inability to install Nvidia drivers I nearly walked away again. However yesterday I got it to work. I have no idea if it works for any other version other than 10.2.
I copied/pasted the following, however I added one line openSUSE 10.2-AMD64 It is recommended to use YaST for installation of the NVIDIA driver. There are several reasons for this. First, it's simple. Second, and this is the most important one, you won't need to recompile the nvidia kernel module after a kernel update. Update your Kernel via YOU (YaST Online Update). Use YaST -> Software -> Installation Source -> Add Protocol: HTTP Server Name: : download.nvidia.com Directory on Server: /opensuse/10.2 to add the NVIDIA http server as additional installation source. Now use YaST -> Software -> Software Management type Nividia in the search box(this line isn't present in the original instructions) in the right hand side all the Nvidia selections will appear to install the NVIDIA driver. Select the following packages: x11-video-nvidiaG01 |
