Step (6) - Install some Games or other software!!!

To install a game, press "Install" (with the plus symbol on top of it) and follow the dialogs. Make sure you know the mountpoint of your CD's. It's probably something like /media/<CD NAME HERE> and not /dev/cdrom as it will suggest by default for most games.

***************************************

One other tip - to install a game not in the repository, click "Install" and select "liveinstall".

Hmm. A program to install Windows programs on Linux. That's hot, but so classic that everybody will just stare at it like it was to be expected at first. You'll get replies, especially once people start to try to use it.
I hope it has Halo because for some reason I can't get it to go.

Great post. Great find.

Thanks.

The concept of installing Windows programs in Linux is not new, but the idea of a repository of installer scripts IS new and very exciting/effective.

It's not exactly new: http://winebot.sandbox.cz/tracker
Not sure if that project is still alive though... will take a look at the one you linked to.

By the way, the first games they advertised has been working for quite a while now:

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?...on&iId=3787

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?...on&iId=7231

No custom scripts needed as I recall... so I wonder what is so new about this?

Edit: I found the explanation on this page: http://www.playonlinux.com/en/presentation.html

I am one of the developer of PlayOnLinux (a.k.a POL).
Thanks for the tutorial for installing POL in a SUSE distro
Now we have an repo officialy supported for Suse : http://packman.links2linux.de/package/PlayOnLinux

Because I am also the webmaster of the site who host some rpm package (for fedora & mandriva), I just inform you that direct link is advise against (use now this link for fedora : http://mulx.hostgratos.net/guppy/dwnld.php?pg=166 ) and I move old package to an other link (other website) http://mulx.free.fr/rpm/
