Most distributions I've tried do NOT make it easy to get this up and running. Recently, I downloaded the i386 version of OpenSuSE 10.2 remastered. During the install, much to my surprise, the green light came on, after the update download, and on the first reboot. I was excited. I fired up Yast, hardware, sound, but was disappointed not to see the US-122 there. Then I looked and saw the 'add' item.
1. I clicked it, then found there is a drop-down list there.
2. I scrolled to Tascam, and found the proper entry for the US-122 (among others).
3. I clicked on that, and went back to the sound card scheme, and there it was.
Nothing to it. Everything on my system seems to work with this release! Now all I have to worry about is whether or not I will mess up my playpen by trying to install the RT JAD kernel. OpenSuSE is REALLY GETTING THINGS WORKING RIGHT! Congratulations to all of you, and to Novell, too.
