I've seen this "white screen" problem often while googeling, but with no answer. I'll post what worked for me.
I'm using xorg 7.2 with the latest nVidia drivers (so no XGL or AIGLX) Code:
~> kate $HOME/.beryl-managerrc2 Code:
[wm-settings] active_wm=0 fallback_wm=0 active_dm=0 iconsize=24 use_fallback_wm=true [beryl-settings] render_path=0 cow_mode=0 rendering_mode=0 platform=0 binding=0 no_gl_yield=false Code:
~> kate $HOME/.kde/Autostart/beryl.sh Code:
cp -T $HOME/.beryl-managerrc2 $HOME/.beryl-managerrc beryl-manager So, I found out that whenever I log out kde, the ".beryl-managerrc" file changes, with "active_wm=1". I think this should tell beryl-manager something like this "Start compiz+emerald+nvidia acceleration" and this makes the whole thing white. Changing it to "active_wm=0" will tell it "Start beryl+emerald+nvidia accel" and this is starting to make sens .

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here on this forum, and I came here via the suse wiki page. I figured I could probably just make a whole new thread, but was reading this one and thought I would just add my question. If I should have started a new thread, sorry my bad. I have been trying to install beryl for a while and can not seem to get it to work. It seems whenever I enable XGL X crashes, if I disable it, it runs fine. Here is my config HP dx5150 business class destkop AMD64 2Ghz 2Gig DDR400 RAM ATI x550 PCI-E video card (128mg I think?) OpenSuSe 10.2 (clean install) and have ran all updates via YaST so far. I followed the instructions to the T on the beryl wiki page linked here: http://en.opensuse.org/Beryl I added the lines in Xorg.conf I enabled AIGLX I updated the ATI driver to the newest release via shell script from ATI's website. Here is my last Xorg log: Code:

I got a problem. I cant get a how to / repo for how/where to download and install Xorg 7.1 (installing shouldnt be a problem with the best of the best YaST)
and, for tiarkin, i think adding damage true in the Extensions section of your xorg.conf should do the deal Jim, Norway |
