The only compliant I ever had while running Arch Linux was that there was no central repository where user package builds could be obtained from an officially run server, using Arch package standards and made available via the pacman software manager. You basically just had to make a patchwork server list of what was available, but even this was not under any official scrutiny and the results were always spotty and inconsistent.

But that is over. The AUR (Arch User Repository) was just announced today. It is great news for a distro that was really only in need of this one project to become as solid as anything out there.
