Hi,

Is there a good disk cataloguing software for KDE which does not require sql or any other DBMS? I am using Gwhere but would like to have something like it for KDE.

Regards,

Arun

Hi!

Thanks for the great links. However, I would like to add that I don't want to categorise the material in my disk. I just want to create a database which is browsable and searchable without the disk plugged in.

Regards,

Arun

I don't know about GCstar, but what you describe is exactly what tellico is. It is basically a generic collections manager. It allows you to create searchable databases of anything and everything you want. It doesn't have to be things on your computer. It is pre-loaded to handle things like books, bibliographies, wine, comics, stamps, cards, and a bunch of other things people collect. Each has appropriate fields you can entire (like ISBN, author, title, etc for books). You can add your own custom fields to the items, as well as make your own custom collections.

It also has the file catalog ability you want, where you can recursively import a list of all the files in a directory (or disk). It then keeps the list even after the directory is gone.
