Hey everyone,

I've been searching the repo's, Sourceforge and kde-apps.org for a program where I can make a 2D design of my garden and preferably render 3D views of the design. I haven't found anything that looks good.
Does anyone know of an application like that, preferably for KDE?

Thanks for any tips!

http://www.gardendesignpro.co.uk/ can be used for windows, not sure if it would work with WINE or in a virtual windows machine though.

please post back if you find something for linux as this is something i'd like myself!

good luck!

Hey badger_fruit,

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the website, but apparently the free version isn't available yet for download, and I don't feel like paying for software that I can't try out first. Especially since it may not run on Linux at all. Thank you for the suggestion, but I'll keep looking!

Guess all this free software for Linux has made me less willing to pay for software. I feel quite spoiled now... :-)

lol, i know what you mean, open source is great, the price tag is usually perfect (£0) and if you don't like it, you can customize it yourself or try something else!!

Speaking of "something else"; I don't know if you want to try this
http://www.showoff.com/

Again, a Windoze produckt quack quack, but may be WINEable?

Google sketchup is nice and there is one for free. The last time I check it works with wine the only problem were the menu, tool bars and icons turn black but still usable.

Edit:
I have not tried this but someone just give me this link. I am going to check this also when I get home tonight. Looks promising

Installs without a hitch here...but trying to run it results in an Access Violation. :-(
Doesn't seem to want to run...

That link does look interesting. I'll need to try it out too.

I've been seriously looking at Blender as a replacement for my Lightwave 3D application.

It's free, just go to software management and search for blender.
