I've been using Ubuntu (and recently upgraded to Gutsy) linux for sometimes and I opt to try OpenSUSE so I installed v10.3 on my work computer. It seems that their is a bit difference between the two. I had been using Ubuntu's utility called APTonCD because I have no internet connection at home so I use it to update my Linux OS at home. Is their an alternative software like this for OpenSUSE so I could have a backup of downloaded software that I could install at home. (If in case I would like to migrate my home OS to OpenSUSE).
Thanks. |

There is a YaST module called the "add-on creator" which should allow you to create add-on discs to install additional software or updated versions of software.
The package is named "yast2-add-on-creator". It appears you need to download all the rpms to a local directory but unlike Ubuntu, openSUSE does not keep a local copy of the the files it downloads during package management. So you will have to re-download all the packages for any add-on disk you create. I haven't used either utility myself, so unfortunately I cannot provide you with a walk-through concerning how to create an add-on disk. But there is a guide here: http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php...Media_with_YaST |
