All Audio Cd's Wont Play

I just realized that none of my music players will play audio CDs. I can rip them and listen, but I don't get any sound when playing them. What confuses me is that Mplayer/XMMS/etc will play the CDs, show all the tracks correctly, and allow me to change position within tracks, but there is no sound. Once ripped, the same trackes play in the same players fine, with no options changed. If it matters, my user account is in the cdrom group.

What should I do?

Check and see if you have a cable going from the audio port on your CD drive to either the motherboard or your sound card. It will be right next to the IDE or SATA cable on the back of your CD drive.

I'll check, but the sound works on Windows, so I doubt that is the problem
