Do you have any sound at all? If you have absolutely no sound, then go here for a start for basic sound:
http://en.opensuse.org/AudioTroubleshooting

If you have basic sound, and are looking for surround sound, then you may have to create a custom .asoundrc file in your /home/username directory.

There are some file examples here:
http://home.cfl.rr.com/infofiles/asoundrc.examples.html

But to get more guidance, I recommend you install a chat program (xchat), and log on to "freenode" / IRC#alsa and ask there. You may have to visit more than a few times, and ask a number of times, as while there are some very knowledgeable sound gurus on that chat channel, they are from all around the world, they keep different hours than us, and they also have other things going on in their lives.

Good luck.
