I think it's kdemultimedia3-video-xine. Something like that. Do the Search in YaST-Software-Software Management for that. I don't know whether the Packman libxine1 is necessary or not, but if you did the multimedia codec thing at opensuse-community.org or installed w32-codecs-all, mplayer and upgraded all the Packman offerings then you have it. So you'd just need to add that kdemultimedia3-video-xine and in KControl -KDE Components-File Manager-Metadata tab increase the size of the thumbnails to 100MB.

Thank you Eck, you ROCK!!!. I'm new to the world of Linux, and I have been searching for weeks for an answer to this same problem.

Hi!

Thanks for sharing this info! However, I wonder, is there a way to make the preview not show the first frame of the video? Sometimes the first frame is just black or even irrelevant to the video, so being able to select a later frame for the preview image would be great!

Thanks!

For SuSE 10.2 there is a package called 'mplayerthumbs' (provided via the guru-repo) which for some reason was never included in any 10.3-repo, although I found it to work much better than the respective xine-thumbnailer (exactly for the reason you mentioned). In case you're familiar with compiling *and* making an .rpm out of a sourcecode, you can download it from »here«.
