I have google this problem and I have yet to resolve this problem. So once again I turn to the knowledge of this forum.

I am running opensuse 10.3
kde verzion 3.5.7 relase 72
x86_64bit

Everytime I try and view vids IE youtube etc. It says I don't have flash installed. So I go to the site and download the flash rpm. Install via yast. Under software management i search for flash make sure it installed and it has. output says adobe flash player plugin 9.0.115.0 fully supported mozilla seamonkey firefox. So now i go and try to watch a vid once again it says I need to install the lastest version. Help!!

Also I am using compiz and its really awesome! How do i get it to start when I boot my machine. Right now i have to click on the compiz fusion button for it to start. (not a big deal)

Are there any book recommendations people have one suse. I just recently purchased OPENSUSE unleashed 10.3 interesting reading thus far wondering if there are any others that i can pick up.

Thanks
Michael

To answer your last question, I highly recommend Chris Brown's book "SUSE LINUX" from O-Reilly. Read my review of it here

As I don't use compiz, I'll keep my mouth shut for now!

Re; Flash

You didn't say which browser you were using, but opera is not working with the latest flash.
Make sure this is installed: nspluginwrapper

Not hijacking, but I have a very similar problem that might be related. I'm also using 10.3 64 bit and Firefox. Problem persists in Konqueror though.

My problem started when I removed the original flash plugin myself, trying to update with the one from the Adobe site. Flash was working in the default installation, but I couldn't access mediamaster.com, so I tried to remove the flash plugin and replace it with the one from the site. That didn't help, but now nothing I do will put it back in working order.

I haven't tried to update/reinstall Firefox though, but as the problem persists in Konqueror, I have my doubts if that would help.

Isn't there something about Flash being a 32 bit program, that until recently didn't work on 64 bit?

All I did was run this command as root. I already had flash installed.

nspluginwrapper -i /usr/lib/browser-plugins/javaplugin.so

flash was working fine until the last flash update, they added some features that broke everything! older flash works, but they have some security problems. opera doesn't work at all, but i have firefox woring with the lastest flash. i think firefox 3 beta might work too with flash.

nspluginwrapper is nice but when running a 64 bit OS there will be some things it can not get working correctly. Better to install the 32 bit version of Firefox rather than the 64 bit version. By doing so you should also install Java 32 bit with plugin. I presently run flash all the multimedia codecs and Java without much issues.
Java loaded is:
1.4.2-cacao 0.97-86 x86_64
1.5.0_update 14-0.1 x86_64
1.6.0.u4-0.1 i586 and plugin i586
Flash is:
9.0.115.0-0.1 i586
