There most people report the output of gdb. I run "gdb cinelerra" -> run. But, it now doesn't hang - I can load clips, etc.[/b]
Yes, that seems to work for my 10.3 as well. But I don't think it should be necessary.

Huh. I found a couple of bug reports, and it seemed like a couple of people running Debian solved it by downgrading glibc or something similar. Of course, I would think doing such would break a lot of stuff. Maybe that has something to do with why it worked.

Alright, now I have something new to add to this thread.

The gdb idea worked for me--once. Not again since.

Strace did it for me a couple of times.

However, I recently decided to check out Compiz once again. I had also seen mention in a chat log that the bug we are referencing may actually be an xorg bug. Anyway, I decide to try Cinelerra out while I am in a compiz/Xgl session.

It worked. Several times. I went back to normal xorg and kwin, and no dice. Same for xfce.

Went back to Compiz/Xgl. It worked again.

Weird.

I am used to Compiz maybe messing some things up, but in this situation, it has fixed the problem. I just don't know if I want to stay in it or not.
