I just wanted to bring to the attention a project to make using Wine to run games on Linux easier:
http://www.playonlinux.com/en/ At first I was skeptical, but after trying it, I must say it looks impressive. It still needs some work in order to have less manual work for the end user, but it works well and is a lot easier than using wine and doing everything manually. |

Played around with it some more. It's quite a time-saver, since it allows you to do most things using one consistent GUI:
Positive: - allows you to install a certain version of wine from within the main POL program; including wine GIT (from the GIT tree) - creates a separate .PlayonLinux folder under your home folder - is able to create separate 'Prefixes' (comparable to Crossover Office's bottles) for each game - you can assign different Wine versions (and a couple of other settings) to different games - Has the ability to download a list of scripts that you can use to install tested as well as unofficial games; for some games even downloads the patches - lets you easily remove games after you decide you do not need/want it any longer Negative: - list of games that have installer scripts not that 'big' yet |

I don't see any RPM package to download. Sorry, still new to OpenSUSE here. Do DEB packages work in OpenSUSE? I dislike packages that are zipped up.

The RPMs are on this page: http://www.playonlinux.com/en/download-rpm.html
The direct download for the SUSE RPM is on the link that swannema pointed out. |
