For some reason I can't hear sounds in Second Life for Linux. Although, actually, I heard some sounds from it earlier today after I had my computer turned off for about half an hour so i know it's in there somewhere. I just don't know if the problem is me or it. I can only assume that Second Life uses a different method for accessing my speakers than everything else. If anyone else has had this problem and fixed it, let me know. My SuSE version is 2.6.22.17-0.1

Are you sure that not any other e.x audacious or kaffeine so on.. is not on or Mozilla
i mean on me sounds work fine( using opensuse 10.3 and latest second life version) but when using some other sound needing/giving" program then sounds don`t work on Second Life on me. |

See if you can run Second Life from the terminal and report any error messages back here. Also try closing out any other app that might possibly be using the sound card. Oftentimes certain apps will steal the sound system (/dev/dsp?) and you will need to close those in order to get sound in certain other apps.

i have found that i have had kaffeine open when i launched the game, closing kaffeine and re-running the game resulted with sound back. question: do you get sound on login or with any other applications (eg music player)? |
