Unhappy

<span style="font-family:Comic Sans Ms">hehe hello again... :lol:

I have a problem. Like ive stated before im quite newish to SuSE and i dont know anything about it, such things include installing games making it so it can read all my media when im trying to import over 30,000 songs (not inc videos), my firewall (does anyone know if i can install ZONEALARM on SuSE and have it work?) but most importantly games...

I play loads of games unforchantly which seems to be a sickly condition i cant really get around for example;

Dawn of War
Dawn of War - Winter Assult
Dawn of War - Dark Crusade
Dawn of War - Soul Storm (Due out on the 7th)

Warcraft 3 - Reign of Chaos
Warcraft 3 - Frozen Throne

World of Warcraft (to everyones disapointment)

Myth of Soma (yesh there are still some servers out there)

Steam games as well such as;
Half life 2
Garrys Mod
Counter Strike

These are only just a few of my most played ones but unforcently im still having to use Micro's verson of a operating Cr... formally known as Windoze XP Pro beacuse i just dont know how to install a .EXE file onto Open SuSE, this is prob my fault but i dont know how or just dont have the skills to search for things for it. the most i seem to be able to search for is Electrical compants :unsure: but im just not sure... i haven't really got the time to search for the nessasry data either with collage and work commitments and rare time to play games. It just seems a waste in my opinion to keep having to swap OS's depending on my need at the time.

so if you can and have the time your self i wouldn't mind if you can help me out

(also i dunno how to update my Nividia Drivers on SuSE :unsure: )

Clumpski,

You might find some info at http://en.opensuse.org/Wine concerning running Windows programs on Linux. Another source might be http://www.linuxgames.com/ . Linux Journal usually has some good info, so check out http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8630 .

I am not a hard-core gamer, and I find the games already on the DVD challenging enough for me. Free Civ and Wesnoth are good games, so do not forget them. Perhaps the above links will point you in the right direction. Good luck, and please post back with your progress.

Oh yeah, http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA is a little info on the nVidia drivers. I forgot to post that earlier. Maybe some of the more hard-core gamers can help you out further, as well. Feel free to post back with any questions you may have. We are glad to have you with us. Have fun!

You can install PlayOnLinux and probably play most of those games. (The list is here - http://www.playonlinux.com/en/scripts.html)

You can install PlayOnLinux with a single click here - http://packages.opensuse-community.org/ind...ro=openSUSE_103

Even if the game you want to play is not listed there, there is a way to generically install a game with PlayOnLinux with all the mods it can find, and hope it works. (To do this, click "Install" and select "liveinstall".

Basically, PlayOnLinux is a program that has scripts that fine tunes the gaming experience for certain games running under Wine. (Wine just lets you run Windows software in Linux). More or less it saves you a lot of time. Because PlayOnLinux uses Wine, you can search the Wine AppDb as well - http://appdb.winehq.org/

If you are a hardcore gamer, you might want to look into purchasing Cedega. (Google it). It is an app that lets you play many games
