Anyone know how to install the patch? I installed quake 3 through yast. Then after that went here http://benjiweber.co.uk:8080/webpin/ to download Openarena 0.7.0, but couldn't find the 0.7.1 patch. Found the 0.7.1 patch on fileplanet.

What now? Do i just extract and drop the contents in a directory? :wimper:

Anyone else game? I use to waste my life in a clan playing Joint Operations, Battlefield Vietnam, then Battlefield 2. Of course it was in Windows. But so far Quake III plays greeeat!

Ok google is my friend. I found the answer. Extract the patch. It will be named pak7-patch.pk3. This patch just simply gets placed in home/YOUR USERNAME/.q3a/MEopenarena-0.7.0/baseoa . That's it!

Is this version you have any different from the retail version?

I installed the game through WINE using the CD. Then I installed the point32 release patch from ID Software (not sure if this patch is still available) and it runs great. Yeah, it's a near perfect game.

However, at some point after this game was released, game developers took a wrong turn and have not gotten much of my business since. Now if I could only get Need For Speed IV High Stakes to run in Linux, I'd be really happy and would probably never buy another game.

No need for wine. One of the repos has the linux installer for Quake open arena or google. Install, then just copy pak0.pk3 from cd to home/.q3a/baseq3 folder and you're ready to play!
