Linux is not for everyone. If you think you can handle it then have at it. For now Windows is going to out perform Linux but I have a feeling that will change. As drivers and patches are released the performance of Linux will surpass Windows. Linux has better system management in every aspect, but since there are so many different versions, big companies are hesitant to give support for Linux. I myself use Linux as my only operating system. When I can't figure something out I turn to the Linux community, they can help with anything and usually much faster than any out sourced tech support in India using a script.
Very true I thought.

Just like this community we have here. Open Source is just more challenging but at the same time, its FUN.

And makes me feel smarter then alot of other Windows users.

I still have an advertisement from Novell on my Hard Disk... entitled "Make the Switch" from Novell. It was taken off the next day or so. But I saved a copy! It's really good. Chris Stone (now gone from Novell) said the same thing: "Linux makes me smarter". It is a bit like the Apple switch ad, but with a lot of people instead of just 1.

I think they took it of their site because this was meant for internal, not for external.

Maybe I will post this file somewhere sometime. Is anyone interested in it?

Can I mail it to you? I don't think it's very big. I'd be VERY surprised if it was > 3MB.

Sure. I've got a blisteringly fast connection, so I wouldn't mind if it was >300 MB.

I have to be honest though, I am currently using XP all dolled up with my StyleXP software with a carbon graphite look, and the new sidebar from TGT soft called "Spyder Bar", along with Firefox and Thunderbird under a "power user" Admin setting to keep the bad guys away, and I have to tell ya, not only does she run faster than my unfortunate now crashed and gone SuSe installation, but Firefox simply files on XP.

If you get the chance, check out Firefox used on XP. it is a completely different browser.

However, I will be reinstalling Suse once I get a different machine, or figure out why it will not install back on my XP machine as a dual boot simply because I do miss the 'challenge' lol...(because it is a challenge for sure) of having it installed, and really miss my development Apache/Mysql/PHP server, in which XP will never compare nor run quite like Linux can.

But..on the eye candy end of things....XP uses my 1.5 gigs to its fullest, making Adobe photoshop open within about 2 seconds, and my 5500 Nvidia card really shows its talents with the high definition look I have on XP now, enabling the complete 3-d atmosphere like it should., whereas no matter how many times I tried to enable it in Suse, it would not keep the setting.

I guess in the long run, it is simply nice to have the best of both worlds because they both have their uses for whatever you want to use them for.

Anyway, sounds like youre really impressed by eye candy, so have fun with your DOS 2001.
