I already tried doing it from local, but I tried again using that command from the console:

dave@linux:~> su
Password:
linux:/home/dave # xhost +
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
No, no. Don't run the xhost + as superuser. Run it as a REGULAR user and then log in as superuser and you should be able to run the installer. [/b][/quote]
Hmmm... Tried that, and it lets me run the installer, but then I get hit with the endless "please insert the UT2003 play disc"...

I think I got this to run on Mandrake without much trouble, but I don't remember how...

When I run xhost + before logging is as SU, I get:

dave@linux:~> xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host
dave@linux:~> su
Password:
linux:/home/dave # sh linux*.sh
Copying to a temporary location...
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing Unreal Tournament 2003 for GNU/Linux 2107.............................................. ........................
linux:/home/dave #

Anything else that you can think of, just throw out there...

I am headed out for a couple hours... My brother has never shot an AR15 or an AK47 so I am taking him and my dad to the local range for some assault weapon goodness.

I should be back in a couple hours and I will see if I can get this thing to work... if not, it is only 1 game... Most of the other games work well...

I don't know what else to try; I installed my UT2003 off CDROMs. <_<

Oh. Wait. That "please insert install cds" thing sounds like the problem with the UT2004 Linux installer.

To get UT2004 installed, you have to umount and mount the CD-rom drive (I did it via a second terminal screen), then hit ok again. UT '04 had an issue with the automounter, and it sounds like UT03 might too..

But what is odd, is that it asks for tha CDROM only about 7 seconds after you enter your reg code. It is not like it installs the entire first disc, and then cannot remount the second one... It's odd...

What syntax would I use to do the unmount and remount?

Here is a procedure that should work for you:

~> xhost +
~> su
~> export SETUP_CDROM=/path/to/cdrom

Then mount the cdrom, copy the installer onto your harddisk and run it. Once it asks you to unmount / mount the next CD you have to do the following:

~> umount /path/to/cdrom
--- now change CDs ---
~> mount /path/to/cdrom

And then press okay in the installer dialog. Voila done !
