Do you guys have any experience with it you would like to share? Did you buy it or is there anything like a free / trial version of it?
Do you think it is worth my money?

I'm just thinking of buying it and so I would like to hear some user comments first!

Mfg,

I never tried Cedega but I tried winex once. It was ok but I couldn't get the games I wanted working. As for cedega, I was looking into that also. Hopefully someone who has it can let us both know if it is worth it.

Well AFAIK Cedega is the new WineX. So if WineX wasn't too good, I doubt that Cedega is

I was also trying it with some newer games so I'm not sure if that was the reason.

I tried it via CVS right before the name change. It seemed to work well with a few games for awhile but eventually I found bugs that ruined my experience. I would never buy it (or even waste my time using it via CVS again) unless I could play the games I have for Windows without bugs crashing the game(s) on me. If it works fine for others and their games, cool, but when I tried it it wasn't worth !@#$.

Edit: I haven't tried that Point2play thing, since I used CVS so I can't comment.

From the stuff I've read on the net, Cedega theoretically works with everything DirectX 8.1b and earlier.

From the tests I've run, that's just a load of nonsense...

Then again, according to all the reviews and things I've read, SuSE didn't work well with Cedega, in fact, none of the games a recent website tested worked with Cedega and SuSE. The same games and a different distro worked, but not for SuSE for some reason.

The only game I've gotten to run in Cedega 4.01 is Steam. That worked up to a point... then I got the error I've posted in "Games" -> "Cedega and Half-Life".

It's a pthreads issue, I'm sure of it. How to get around that, I have no clue, but that's gotta be the case. Other forums have mentioned pthreads as an issue with SuSE...

Haven't used Point2Play yet. Don't know there.

I must agree with andrewd18. In my experience, the prospect is far greater than the reality. I had trouble with Warcraft III, and it's supposed to function perfectly according to the web site.

I just stopped my transgaming subscription last month. I just dont play game like I used to. P2P worked great for me. But I ran older games on it BG and MOO.

Cedega is Winex just newer and renamed to differentiate itself from wine . My guess copywrite stuff also.
